It’s been a long time….

Indeed, it’s been quite a long time.. Today, everything about the day seems perfect; the weather, the songs. Have you ever heard anyone describing the crisp fresh air that your lungs take in and the sense of happiness that it brings along? Well, that’s something similar I am trying to describe right now.. The skies are painted with my favorite shade of blue. The tree in front of my balcony has finally sprung to life and is giving me a sense of exuberance. I never knew Spring could do THIS to you. It changes everything that occupies your mind. Here on, I can say, I know what wonders a perfect day can bring to your life.

Often, we are unaware of the extravagance that encompasses us. Take a minute out and scan your surroundings, inhale the freshness around you, forget about your worries and see how imperfectly beautiful everything is, including yourself! The clouds might not be shaped as rabbits as in the fairy tales but they have a golden shine on them because of the Sun that’s setting in the West. The trees might not be symmetrical as we paint them on the canvas but the leaves are dancing to the tunes of soft breeze. The noises around you do not remind you of the latest Maroon 5 track but when you listen to the chirping carefully, it tells you even the birds are in love with the season. I wish I was a artist who could paint it all down on the canvas or maybe write a poem enticing the readers into it’s beauty. I am none of that but, I try, for I know that whenever I will read it in the future it will definitely bring a smile to my face.

The first and the memorable one!

It was not long ago when the only thing I heard was, ”No more lunches and dinners this year, puhleeez!”. That was agitated Pam screaming at me when I asked her what should we do on your birthday this year. Her birthday being the first one being celebrated every New Year; we always plan something grand for it (but eventually end up going for a dinner 90% of the times). This year she was determined not to celebrate her special day in a hotel.

A month before her big day, on a chilly evening, me and Pam had gone for a walk. I grabbed that opportunity to tell her what I was planning for her birthday. It was evident that she loved my idea by judging her face expressions; she sounded really excited about the plan. Step 1 was to get the other two convinced. As soon as we reached home, we asked Amy and Kits to clear their schedules for that day explaining them the gist of our conversation. We left them with no option but to say yes; step 1, accomplished!  Step 2, the most important one, was to go shopping. Well, executing such steps never take time; because when it comes to shopping, we girls can be compared to eveready batteries. Step 2nd, check!

Step 3 was getting ready IN TIME which takes us directly to a day before Pam’s birthday. 2 full length mirrors were clearly not sufficient for our jolting souls. There was so much more left to do and the clock had already struck 2130hrs. We were much behind on our schedule; but then again, it’s not a gang of girls if we make it in time for a party, is it? We were finally dressed for a 7 star place and were on our way to dance the night away!

Now, one would ask what it so special about going dancing? It wasn’t the “dancing” part that made Pam’s birthday memorable. It was something else. We were not aware that free liquor was being served where we were headed; which we got to know when we were asked for our photo IDs and shoot, we didn’t have them. We tried to talk ourselves out of it but the manager just wasn’t ready to budge.

We could see that panic had already stricken Pam’s face wondering whether she would be celebrating her birthday in a car, but we are no evils to let that happen.  We headed back to our apartment, grabbed our IDs and came back to shove them at the manager. Even he was like ‘whaaaaat?!?!’, with a big question mark on his face, after seeing us return with the IDs. We entered the hotel and it was Cinderella time! We shouted ‘Happy birthday Pam’ and hugged and kissed only to see about 100 eyes looking at us, awestruck. It was just another day for them but that day had a special place in our hearts and making it an amazing one for Pam, was our only aim that night! J

That was a great way to start this year. We departed on a note to make it equally special for each one of us as no one knows where everyone will be next year, this precise time..

Food for thought..

So, stomach full with yummy methi malai mutter and mind full of thoughts a sleepy-head starts writing her blog. Today, before lunch I came across this wonderful book named “Understanding Muhammad”. I got so caught up with the book that I lost track of time and was brought back to the world by the clock when it struck 1:30.. I suddenly remembered that we were way past our lunch time and that we must go now as I had started to feel really hungry. We took our lunch boxes and started walking towards the elevators. But there was something different today.. Instead of thinking about the race I am going to be a part of, all I had in my mind were quotations from the book I was reading. I was amazed by what the writer has mentioned in that book. Everyone with an open mind to a subject as sensitive as religion must read this book. Fortunately for me (though unfortunately for my stomach) we were late in going for lunch today, the canteen welcomed us with an empty table at the entrance.. Getting back to work now with an anxious mind to read the next chapter in the book..

It’s a race!

It was just yesterday when I said to Snehal, “I hate this time of the day when we have to look into people’s plates to see if they’re done with their lunch.. 5 most frustrating minutes”, with irritation evident on my face. Let me tell you, office canteen just isn’t the place to have “lunch time memories” especially when it’s too small to accommodate the employees during rush hours. The process goes like, you enter the canteen, peep into the plates, acquire your target who is about to finish their lunch and just SPRINT towards the chair as soon as your target gets into a semi-standing position. Now that you’re into the game you just have to smile at your opponent if he manages to reach the chair before you and get over your defeat and then repeat the procedure step 2 onward. This whole thing can take anywhere between 5 to 15 mins, latter being our big-time-loser record. Well, it’s not all that bad.. I’ll get back with the positives later..

You never know when, how or where you might fall into LOVE.. All I remember doing during the month of December is write magnified stuff about myself.. I felt like I was engulfed into something that left me no time for myself; only to realize later that this would lead the writer in me to flourish and to reach out for expanses that I couldn’t dream about surpassing in the past.. I am one such girl, who has found a great way to channel everything interesting happening around her (mind you it is no less than a bollywood film).. I am enjoying every bit of this journey keeping my wandering eye open to capture the essence of life and to share some incredible experiences here..This was my moment of love which came in like a gust, swept me off my feet, leaving behind an inspiration..

The thing I love most about myself is that I am girl.. I get to shop, to show how much I adore PURPLE and PINK stuff, to gossip, to act irrationally at times.. Gossip, btw reminds me that I am a big time Gossip Girl fan so don’t be surprised if you see a post that reads “Spotted: “.. I understand fashion and am sorry for those who entertain me with their fashion faux pas every other day..

So, all in all I am a girl who you will find talking mostly about fashion, cooking, TV shows, music and off course MYSELF.. Watch this space for more.. 🙂
